Therapy South was founded in July 2006 by Steve Foster, PT. His vision was that Therapy South would be a therapist-owned practice, specializing in "hands-on care, close to patient's home or work". Clinics placed in Central Alabama, Auburn and Athens, GA maintain an informal atmosphere that helps patients feel at home in their surroundings. Having 20 locations, allows patients to conveniently attend physical therapy two to three times per week to improve their daily functions. We know our patients names when they walk in the door of our clinics!

Clinical excellence is the foundation of our successful patient outcomes. Many of our therapists have advanced certification in orthopedic physical therapy, as well as other specialty areas including manual therapy, women's health, orthotics and hand therapy/occupational therapy.

Hundreds of physicians in Alabama and Georgia trust Therapy South to care for their patients each day. We work with physicians, families, employers and insurance companies to ensure the best care possible for every patient

                                           Manual Therapy

Mobilization is the skilled passive movement to a joint and/or related soft tissues performed to relieve pain and increase mobility. Manipulation is also skilled passive movement to a joint, similar to mobilization, but it is performed more quickly. Manipulation is often associated with an audible 'pop'. Both mobilizations and manipulations are performed by the physical therapist to improve joint range of motion and relieve pain. Each patient will be evaluated for the appropriate manual therapy techniques for their dysfunction. We combine a caring touch with skilled techniques to reduce pain and increase mobility. Many of our therapists carry certifications in manual therapy/strength and conditioning/athletics, or are board-certified in orthopedics.

Redemptive Cycles

OUR MISSION

At Redemptive Cycles, our mission is to redeem the streets. We believe getting people on bikes makes Birmingham a more connected, comfortable, and livable city. Bicycles are affordable transportation, which not only fight congestion, parking shortages, and pollution in the city center, but also boost individual health and fitness!

Through our non-profit bike shop we sell new and refurbished bicycles at an affordable price, provide professional-quality repairs and maintenance services below market rates, and use a sliding scale for those in need. Through our “Earn-A-Bike” program, those in need can work at the shop, learn how to repair and maintain a bicycle, and leave with a bike of their own

HISTORY

Since opening in July of 2013, Redemptive Cycles has operated as a nonprofit organization, and received its 501c3 status in September 2014. So how does a nonprofit bike shop work? In our case, it looks and operates mostly like a normal bike shop: new and used bikes are for sale along with parts and accessories, and we offer full service repairs. What makes us different is the variety of nonprofit services we offer to Birmingham-area cyclists: the Earn-a-Bike program, sliding scale repairs, free monthly mechanics classes, and a free public workstation, not to mention many volunteer opportunities and a community of cyclists eager to help one another.

Our nonprofit sustains itself in a variety of ways. First and foremost is through the bike shop itself. Shop revenue not only allows us to give bikes and repairs away, it also helps keep our doors open, but used bike sales and discounted repairs are not enough, and we look to our community for support when shop revenue falls short of the bottom line.

From our community we get support in a few key ways. First of all Redemptive Cycles relies heavily on volunteer labor. Without the resources to pay a full staff we look to our awesome and dedicated staff of volunteers to provide much of the labor necessary to keep the bike shop running at full steam. Volunteers are integral to Redemptive Cycles’ continued success.

We also rely on our community to provide the majority of our used bike and part offerings. Bike donations are our bread and butter. They provide us with both a well-stocked, affordably priced, used bike selection, and a supply of bikes to utilize through the Earn-a-Bike program. Without frequent bike donations Redemptive Cycles would struggle to maintain a good used bike selection.

Finally, we look to our community for support through monetary donations. When revenue from the bike shop falls short, Redemptive Cycles asks the community to help make up the difference. Our annual fundraiser and individual donations enable us to continue offering bicycle related services to the Birmingham area, and in the future, with the help of grants, we hope to further expand our outreach.

In 2015 Redemptive Cycles expects to bring in $150,000 in revenue, and we need to raise at least $50,000 through fundraisers, private donations, and grants in order to sustain our charitable services.  Combining the bike shop and nonprofit is the most efficient way to help those in need of bicycle related services. Revenue from the bike shop goes directly towards sustaining our charitable services, and because things like rent and utilities are shared, the nonprofit costs only a fraction of what it would otherwise take to operate.

My Doe B Videography

  I've chosen Doe B as my favorite artist because he tells the many tales of truth. Doe B has given back to his community time and time before his death, and even died doing a show in his home town for a birth day bash. the things he did growing up wasn't right but he had to do what he had to do growing up in the rough parts of Montgomery, were I' m from. He always tried to prove others wrong. His high school teacher he couldn't leave to see twenty five, he died three days after Christmas at the age of twenty six in the year of 2013. Doe B has gotten me there a lot of hard ships and i thank him for that Rest In Peace Doe B and this is why I chose him.

Glenn Thomas (June 13, 1991 – December 28, 2013), better known by his stage name Doe B, was an American hip hop recording artist from Montgomery, Alabama. He was perhaps best known for being signed to fellow American rapper T.I.'s Atlanta-based record label, Hustle Gang. Thomas was also known for his signature eye patch, the result of a shooting that occurred in 2009. During his career he released eight mixtapes, including Trap Life (2012) UziUziPeacoat (2012) with rapper Young Mayo and Baby Jesus (2013); he was also featured on the 2013 Grand Hustle compilation G.D.O.D. (Get Dough or Die). Thomas was shot and killed on December 28, 2013 at the Centennial Hill Bar & Grill, in his hometown of Montgomery. There have been two posthumous projects, D.O.A.T. 3 (Definition Of A Trapper) and the compilation mixtape Doe B Presents C.B.M.: Choppaz, Brickz & Money, released by Doe B's own label, Cote Block Music.

11 Advantages of Blogging in the Classroom

  

This semester I have used bloggers to organized research and sum up large information of text. I learned how to be creative and inspired to make more creative text and reports. Being in a class with the use of blogs is a better learning experience for our hands on generation today. Sitting in a class room with just books and pencils gets old fast and i tend to lose interest. Having a blog is a great and beautiful thing to use in school.

Lowell Milken Unsung Heros Project

The Lowell Milken Center defines Unsung Hero as:

 One who has created positive change in history by improving the lives of others and has yet to be recognized. The individual impacts must have stood the test of time.

[1]The six-month-old black and white male kelpie ( Lane Ramsdell & Gunner The Dog pictured right ) was found whimpering, having suffered a broken front leg, under a destroyed mess hut at Darwin Air Force base on 19 February 1942, following the first wave of Japanese attacks on Darwin. Air Force personnel took him to a field hospital, but the doctor insisted he couldn't fix a "man" with a broken leg without knowing his  name and serial number. The doctor repaired and plastered his leg after the air force personnel replied that his name was "Gunner" and his number was "0000". Gunner entered the air force on that day.Long before the sirens      fsounded, Gunner would get agitated and head for shelter. Gunner's hearing was so acute he was able to warn air force personnel of approaching Japanese aircraft up to 20 minutes before they arrived and before they showed up on the radar.Gunner never performed when he heard the allied planes taking off or landing; only when he heard enemy aircraft as he could differentiate the sounds of allied from  Westcott aircraft. It was reported that he found and rescued over hundred people with his sensitive, life-saving nose.( Air Raid Warden named E. King and gunner picture down) Gunner was so reliable that Wing Commander McFarlane gave approval for Westcott (Gunner with his handler Percy Westcott picture up) to sound a portable air raid siren whenever Gunner's whining or jumping alerted him.[6] Before long, there were a number of stray dogs roaming the base. McFarlane gave the order that all dogs be shot, with the exception of Gunner. 

Gunner is related to in the since that at first i wasn't wonted on the basketball team. As he wasn't wonted as a pet, But he worked hard as I did to be apart of an special organization. Gunner shows hart and bravery as I do on the court.
